Ad Gefrin Northumbrian Distillery
The same landscape that drew ancient royalty to hold court and offer hospitality to peoples from around the world today gives us the finest malting barley and the purest Cheviot water with which is used to create Single Malt Whisky and Thirlings Dry Gin.
‘Tácnbora’ – meaning Standard Bearer in Old English - is a fitting name for the spirit that comes before all the others. It also reflects the writings of Bede which recorded that in the 7th century King Edwin was always preceded by a standard bearer carrying a staff topped with a goat’s head – the shape of which has become the logo.
We want our English whisky and our Northumberland gin made in our distillery to be shaped for sharing, and to be central to those moments of life that matter.
